Bootea - 14 Day Cleanse Review

I am guessing many of you have heard of the Bootea Teatox and are wondering if it actually helps you too lose weight before you go and spend your cash.

When I was researching this I stumbled across a variety of opinions. Some people said that they saw no change what's so ever, some said that they definitely lost weight whilst others saw other benefits such as energy and clear skin. So what did I see when during and after the Teatox? One things you should keep in mind is that changes in your body may not directly be an outcome of the Teatox.

During:
  • The morning after the night time tea I definitely felt that my stomach was cleared out in the bathroom...
  • I felt lighter and less bloated
  • I felt more energy and more positive towards my body changing
After:
  • I did not appear to have lost very much lower belly fat
  • There was no obvious FAT loss
  • Did loose some weight (due to excretion etc.)
  • Felt I had better digestion
Do I recommend Bootea for fat loss?

The answer unfortunately is no. Bootea can help with weight loss, help you debloat and be an amazing side help for my fitness and weight goals as you 'appear to loose weight' which may keep you motivated to get to the body you want. Also, it's definitely not a quick fix for the summer and won't work if you over eat during your day. However, it might be a good option if your already quite fit but have been on holiday and have been eating a decent amount of junk food ( or foreign cultured foods if you don't want to guilt yourself) that you usually wouldn't eat as it will help you get back on track.

Have you tried any other Detox Teas/ Cleanses that have led to better results? If so I would love to know for next time I go and binge out on holiday. I heard something about banana island....anybody tried that?

Mango, Banana Oatmeal ft The Wild Peanut Chocolatey

THE WILD PEANUT CHOCOLATEY IS THE BAE.

Just saying to y'all who haven't tried this peanut butter you have been missing out on life. You know that whole in your heart, well it's this that you have been missing your whole life.

And the best way I could ever breakfast is by putting all my favourite sweet goods together into one bowl... and dear ones, here I will show you exactly how to do it Priyanka-style 'fist pumps with a massive grin on her face'.

My question to you is do you like peanut butter, bananas, chocolate, mangos, breakfast, sunshine, pretty food photos that make you happy?

Then a) keep reading... and b) you and I have way to much in common not to be friends

Ingredients:

- 1/4 Cup Oats
- 1 tsp. Chia Seeds/ Hemp Seeds
- Water / Soya Milk to cook the oats (or other Non-Diary Milk)
-Cinnamon

 Toppings :

- 1/2 coined Banana
- 1 tbsp. of The Wild Peanut Chocolaty
- 1/4 Chopped Mango and pulp  (if unavailable use tinned mangos but these unfortunately usually  have added sugars)
- Few blueberries
- Desiccated Coconuts
- 3-4 almonds

Method:

- Cook your oats as you would, I usually add hemp seeds/ chia seeds, a sprinkle of cinnamon and use soya milk to cook the oats in the microwave for 2 minutes (a minute at a time adding more milk if needed).  Feel free to cook more oats but I thought that the toppings made this a filling breakfast.

-When your oatmeal if cooked, chop 1/2 a banana into coins and place on the side of the bowl on top of the oatmeal. Alternatively you can fry bananas with honey in a small frying pan and add this to your oatmeal instead.

-Mix up The Wild Peanut Chocolaty with a spoon as the honey, natural oil and peanut usually separate

- Add I tsp. of the nut butter and place on the centre of the bowl (remember to lick the spoon of course!)

-  Add the mango, almonds, blueberries and coconuts beautifully on top .

-Take a snap of your breakfast and tweet it to me/ tag me in your Instagram photo because I would honestly LOVE to see it!

Take a spoon and enjoy the bliss.

Now that feels like freedom right?

I really hope that you enjoy this recipe and try it out. The one thing that is killing me at the moment is the fact that I can't find anywhere that sells The Wild Peanut near me. Asda used to but for some crazy reason they stopped.... I think they wanted to act in my best interest to kill my addiction because it was getting pretty unhealthy anyways...

Let me know how you like your chocolate peanut butter and any of your favourite breakfast recipes would be appreciated in the comments below!

Super Easy and Healthy Chocolate Fudge Sauce

Chocolate mousse? Hot chocolate sauce? Chocolate banana dip? Chocolate oatmeal topping? Chocolate anything?

Yes,please.

This is a great, super easy and healthy chocolate sauce recipe that you can put together in no time (and practically with no brain power at all!).

Ingredients:

- 1 Can Full Fat Coconut Milk (Unmixed)
- 100% Cocoa Powder / Bar of Dark Chocolate
- 2 Tbsp. Honey / Alternative Sweetener
-Cinnamon
-Pinch of Salt

Method:

-Boil 1/3 saucepan of water and place glass bowl on top
-Add thick coconut milk from the top of the can into the bowl without any of the excess water
-Add dark chocolate, honey cinnamon and salt to the bowl and allow the heat from the water below melt the ingredients
- Stir frequently until a sauce like consistency is reached and check the sweetness (I know that sweetness varies between people a lot!)
- Move the sauce into an open glass container to cool before refrigerating,

When the sauce is cool it has a mousse like texture but you can always warm it up in the micro oven to use as a hot fudge sauce.

Let me know if you enjoyed this recipe and how you enjoy eating the sauce the most.

Browned Paleo Banana Coconut Cookie Recipe

Overly sweet tooth like me? In need for chocolate? Want to become a cookie monster without the 'unhealthy' feel?

Dear ones, join me.

I accept that my cooking skills are not perfect and that these cookies are a little over browned but doesn't mean that they taste bad at all!

To make these quick and easy yummies, you will need:

- 2 Bananas
- 1/2 Cup Ground Flax Seeds
-1/2 Cup Shredded Coconut
-1/3 Cup Hemp Seeds
-5/6 Dried Dates roughly chopped
-2 Heaped Tbs Honey
(more or less depending on your preference; you can also sub any other sweetener)
- 4 Squares Dark Chocolate (I used Lindt 85%) Chopped
-1/2 Tsp Cinammon
-1 Tsp Nut Butter
-2 Tbs Olive Oil/ Coconut Oil

Method:

- Preheat the oven to 200 °c

-Line an oven tray with tin foil and spread with olive oil to prevent cookies from sticking to the foil

- Mash the bananas (TIP: Peel and warm the bananas for 40-50 seconds to make mashing them up easier) and mix flax and hemp seeds, coconuts, oil, cinnamon, honey and nut butter together in a large bowl.

-Allow to cool a little before gently stirring in the dark chocolate chips and chopped dates

- Place mixture on the foil and press into cookie shapes

-Bake in over for 6-10 minutes

TIP: To prevent over burning keep checking the cookies and take out of the oven before it goes too brown , pretty self  explanatory but I always seem to find the simple things in life too straight forward.

I ate my cookies with hot almond milk hot chocolate whilst I watched Vampire Diaries like a typical girl on a typical Friday night.

Let me know if you know if you liked this recipe and any variations you may have made.

Bannana, Mango Nut Oatmeal

Breakkkfassttting with Priyanka once again!

Oh yeah baby (I know you love it).

Life couldn't get better with a stack of mangos/ mango puree in my fridge. Literally, all week I have been jumping out of bed (which is very difficult since its pitch black every morning) excited to eat my mango filled breakfasts.

Here is a way I have been loving to incorporate my favourite fruit into my first meal.

Banana, Mango Nut Oatmeal:

-1 Tbsp. Oats (you can cook as much oats if you usually do)
-1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds
- 4-5 Chopped Slices of Mango
- 1 Small Handful of Blueberries
- 1/2 Banana
- 1 Tsp. Pumpkin Seeds
- 1 Tsp. chopped almonds

If you want to be really cheeky like I was this week add a heaped Tbs of CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER. I found one from Asda called The Wild Peanut Chocolatey which has honey and no added sugar so therefore is 'clean' to eat.

- Cook the oats with chia seeds in the microwave/ hob
- Place the chopped mangos in the centre of the oatmeal and coined banana slices around the edge
- Add you toppings; chocolate peanut butter/ chopped almonds, pumpkin seeds and blueberries on top.

There are so many variations of this breakfast you could try. I've had my mango oatmeal with healthy sweet potato brownie chunks on top and oh it's delishhh.....

Let me know how you like your morning oatmeal so I can test them out in my own kitchen.

Healthy Pear and Fig Snack

I had never even tried figs until a few weeks ago when I saw them in Asda and decided I was up for trying something new since they are probably in season at the moment.

Here is a simple recipe I tried out which you might enjoy.

Ingredients:

-1 Medium Soft Pear
-1 Fig

- 2 Tablespoons Ground Hazelnuts
- 1 Tablespoon Coco Powder

- 2 Teaspoons Coconut Oil / Olive Oil
-1 Table Spoon Honey /Maple Syrup

-Desiccated Coconuts (to sprinkle)

Instructions:

1) Cut the pear flat, sideways, into slices and place on a small plate
2) Cut the figs into quarters and then into eighths and arrange with the pear
3) In small mixing bowl add the ground hazelnuts, coco powder, oil and honey together and mix well to help it stick together slightly (don't worry, this won't stick perfectly together but that's fine as they are meant to be crumbs)
4) Sprinkle the hazelnut 'crumbs' over the pear and figs - you can add more or less of any ingredient to make it work for you
5) Decorate with a some desiccated coconuts and dig in

I hope you try this recipe if you have figs in your kitchen and let me know if you liked it.

Do you have any healthy fig snacks you have been enjoying? I would love to know!

Tips to Help Reduce Your Cold Symptoms

It's that time of the year again, autumn leaves falling, darker mornings, shorter days, thicker jumpers and of course, colds.

Everyone seems to be coughing, sneezing and complaining that they have a cold and I am someone who has been constantly shivering unless I wear 2 vests, a thermal top, a regular top and a thick jumper outside but have found some of these things useful in helping reduce my cold/flu-like symptoms.

1. Drink Hot Herbal Tea
I found that sipping on hot cups of ginger and lemon tea (Twinning's Settling Ginger and Revitalising Lemon & Ginger are two of my favourites) really helps my throat feel less sore and dry; it also helps making me feel a little more warm and cosy which is always really comforting.

2. Stay Hydrated
I know this may be one point you rather skip out off the list, but when you're ill having plenty of water for your body to take care of itself is definitely the wiser option. During the day, drinking water should help increase your energy levels too.

3. Take Multi Vitamins

Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins. Don't forget your vitamins. I regularly take multivitamins all year round and swap between Floradix Liquid Iron and Vitamin Formula and Metatone Tonic as well as Vitamin D and Iron tablets (since my GP has recommended this to me).  Especially when I feel like any sympotoms of a cold is arising or simply feel fatigue, I will take Vitamin C tablets to help my immune system keep up with everything that's going on.

4. Get Enough Sleep
Tired all the time? Go to bed a little earlier because you owe yourself that much. After all, its probably not your fault you were infected by the coughing bus passenger next to you, right? A little more snooze ain't gonna hurt no body.

5. Eat Oranges
Now orange juice doesn't classify as fresh oranges, there is something very different about the two things I would have thought. Eating oranges and other citus fruits, berries and fresh vegetables also helps your body repair itself quicker and more easily due to the higher amounts of antioxidants your body receives.

6. Strepsils, Tissues and Paracetamol
My mother never let me leave the house without all of these things. Always keeping paracetamol handy means that you should be able to battle the day to the end like a hero...

Hopefully this has reminded you that nourishing your body with all that it deserves will help you feel energized much more faster than if you binged on junk foods and walked around the roads with a light shirt on!

Aduna - Baobab and Moringa Testers + Two Recipe Trials

Recently, I discovered Aduna, a company who have been trying to publicise the Baobab and Moringa 'superfood' powers. After requesting a free sample from their website, I received a tester of both powders in the post and decided to try out two new recipes, incorporating them in.

Moringa is a green powder with a slightly spinach like taste to it. It claims to aid energy release, blood pressure, bones, teeth, healthy nails, hair and good skin health.

It also has...
24 x iron of spinach.
21 x calcium of milk.
Almost 25% protein.

Tuna Guacamole
- 1/3 Can of Tuna
- 1 Handful of sweet corn (Frozen ones, defrosted)
- 1 Handful of Peas (Same as above)
- 1/2 Green Pepper
-1/2 Stalk Celery
-1 Tbs Moringa powder

-1/2 Avocado
-Chunk of cucumber
-Tomato (optional)

Use a little olive oil to cook  the pepper and celery together and leave to until golden brown. Mix in the tuna and  defrosted sweet corn and peas. Add salt and seasonings of choice.

When cooked move place into a bowl and add 1/2 avocado and cucumber chopped into cubes.

Skinkle more pepper and feast.

**************

Baobab is claimed to have many health benefits aswell including the aid of good skin health, immune system, stress, metabolism and energy levels.

It also has...
6x vitamin C of oranges.6x potassium of bananas.
2x Calcium of milk.
50% fibre.

It has a pear like taste and it all sounds good to me!

A Taste of All - Energy Balls
-2 Tbsp. Chia Seeds
-5 Tbsp. desiccated Coconut (2 Tbsp. when blending then 3 Tbsp. or more when creating a suitable consistency to make them into balls)
-1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter (or almond butter)
- 1 Tbsp.  Baobab Powder
-1 Tbsp.  100% Cocoa Powder
-1 Tbsp. Nuts of choice (I used 1/2 Tbsp. hazelnuts and 1/2 Tbsp. almonds)
-1/4 cup Dates (chopped)
-2 Tbsp. Pumpkin Seeds
-1 Whole Banana
-1Tbs Olive Oil (optional)

Blend together all the dry ingredients in the blender and make sure all whole nuts have been made blended into roughly powered consistency. This might take a while, so mixing it  with a spoon in between will help!

Blend the banana and olive oil into the other ingredients- this helps everything stick together better. Finally, hand mix the rest of the desiccated coconut into the mixture and add more if needed to hold everything together.

Make them into balls and place them into the fridge to set. Eat and Enjoy!

I love these balls because they are super healthy and you could use more or less of any of these ingredients depending of what you have in your kitchen at the moment.

I will be sure to invest in both the Baobab and Moringa superfoods to add to my daily diet. If you tried the recipes, let me know if you liked them!

Things That Make Me Happy #8 Pancakes and Sleeping In

You, your bed, a candle, a movie or a book and a long good nights sleep - isn't that what everybody wants on the weekend?

Yes, it makes me very happy to lie in on the weekends and I feel that I should not feel bad about doing it either because my body needs it's rest especially after a week of non stop school and work...or I just like sleeping - take which ever excuse you want.

The best thing is when I decide to wake up late and make pancakes because those days seems to bring the ultimate happiness within me. Its a fact - food is not just food for my body but food for my soul :)

Don't worry I try to keep my pancakes as healthy as I can by using oats instead of flour, not adding sugar (you can use honey to sweeten it on top), dark chocolate instead of the purely indulging nutella (oh, sneaky birthday treat I need you) and topping it with fruit such as bananas (natural sweetener) or blueberries.

Trust me, on one of these mornings you would want to be here with me but I would like to apologies in advance and warn you of how I tend to fangirl over the smallest things like cute breakfasts and coffee. Well that's me for you.

How do you like to unwind or relax on the weekends? Music, movies or mates?

BREAKFAST.

It is the most important meal of the day.

I'm not even going to let you try and argue.

Its a fact.

So don't skip it !

I bet you are all grabbed by my 'spur of the moment' title idea.

Because I'm pretty surprised by my own creativity :)

Its so important to kick start your day the right way and there is not better way to do it than a fully nutritious, filling, healthy meal to provide you with plenty of energy in the morning.

This is quick and easy, so as long as you have the ingredients you have no excuses.

You will need:

- Your favourite bowl

- 1 Banana Sliced into 'coins'

- A handful of Raspberries / Blueberries/ Blackberries/ Strawberries... (what I am trying to say is - any berry of your choice!)

-Chia Seeds (Optional)

- A Spoon

- Yourself

- Your mouth

I think that covers pretty much everything.

Let me know what your all time favourite breakfast is and if you enjoyed this recipe!
